BBSI: Trustees
Andrew Mason
Accountant
Andrew first started BBSI as a volunteer in early 2002 specializing in Financial
Accounts, as this is his trained profession. Andrew was soon approached to
become BBSI Treasurer/Bookkeeper, which lead to him becoming an official trustee
in 2003.
Andrew’s role involves all aspects of BBSI’s financial responsibilities, such as
preparing year-end accounts for audit. He is also involved in the safety of all
money received from our fund raising events.
In addition, Andrew introduced his brother to the charity who is a qualified
architect. He assisted in the design of the first draft of the orphanage in
Kenya.
Andrew’s plan for the future is to continue to be a part of the vision of BBSI
and to witness the completion of what BBSI has set out to accomplish, which is
to provide a home, food and safety for the under privilege children.
It is his desire to be as supportive to the other areas within BBSI and work
towards bringing awareness about BBSI to the body of Christ as well as the
outside public.
Annette Beckford
Event Organiser / Project Manager
Annette joined BBSI in early 2003 as the Event Organiser and shortly thereafter
was also given the responsibility of Company Secretary. Annette now holds the
position of Event Organiser/ Project Manager as she has handed the mantel of
Company Secretary back to her fellow trustee Jaqi Morgan who took time out from
the charity to concentrate on her degree.
Annette has implemented various charity protocols such as the introduction of
the BBSI Confidentiality Agreement as well as all other relevant documentation.
She presently organises all aspects of fundraising events since joining BBSI and
is pleased to announce that each one has been more successful than the last.
In addition Annette is utilising her many years experience of Project Managing
large teams and building projects within the media industry. This has extended
both within the UK and the US. Annette acts as Project Manager liaising with her
Kenyan counterpart to ensure that the project is on target towards completion.
After visiting Kenya twice during 2008 and being so physically, mentally and
emotionally instrumental in the day-to-day activities of the orphanage has made
Annette even more passionate about the charity.
Like her mother, founder Florence Shakes, Annette has a great love for all
children and shares the vision of BBSI. She believes that this is just the
beginning of what God has planned. Many children from all walks of life,
regardless of gender, race, denomination and background will be saved, in body,
mind soul and spirit and will go on to continue God’s marvellous work.
After numerous heartfelt discussions held with Annette and the founder about the
exceptional things the founder is doing, Annette was so moved with compassion,
not only for all the deprived children whose lives are going to be turned around
for the better, but also because the founder of this marvellous charity, is
Annette’s mother in whom she holds with the highest regard, love and integrity.
"Proud of you mum!"
Annette plans to continue to walk side by side with the founder and co
-founder
of BBSI ensuring that the charity receives the positive exposure and support it
needs in order to accomplish the Lord’s work. She believes that this is just the
beginning of God’s ultimate plan, as many deprived children will finally have a
place they can finally call home and people who genuinely care about their
well-being.
Deborah Chambers
Case Reporter/Sponsorship Co-ordinator
Deborah Chambers joined BBSI on 3rd November 2001. It was also the day of the
first official BBSI meeting and her official appointment as trustee within BBSI.
Deborah was nominated as the case reporter and sponsorship allocation
representative, which meant that she was responsible for the overall assessment
of the children who were presented to the charity and the decision for their
sponsors.
The ministry has sponsored several children to date. Each child that is
sponsored by BBSI is a special individual and so care is taken to ensure that
this is maintained. BBSI has been tracking and following each child’s physical
and spiritual growth and educational development by creating a progress diary
for every individual child.
As a trustee I am also held accountable to the code of conduct and therefore I
have set aside time to work with my team to ensure that general office duties
such as filing and the basic book-keeping and standards of record keeping are in
order. I also take time out to work towards the smooth transition of the
charity’s annual dinner and ball.
My plans for the future in BBSI is to ensure this vision that has been given by
God, burden and birth through the founders is implemented and manifested in it’s
fullness, on the foundation scriptures of Matthew 15 verse 32– 38, and Matthew
25 verse 36-40.
Understanding the principals of God’s economy, I fully intend to use both my
spiritual growth and professional skills and ability that God has blessed me
with. To fully attain to work with and support the founders in areas that would
be required of me under their spiritual guidance.
Deborah Wilson
Social Worker
Deborah was chosen to be one of the Trustees in BBSI a few months after its
inception. And since then, she has been a loyal supporter of this charity
although; she took a break from the Trustee position in 2004. Deborah returned
in 2007 with great enthusiasm and has indeed consistently demonstrated her
commitment in many ways. Deborah is devoted to her faith and is open to use all
of her God given abilities to further develop this awesome vision.
After leaving secondary school Deborah went onto further education and completed
her GCSE’s and a qualification in Social care. She found work very quickly in a
day centre for adults with physical disabilities. It was from this time that
Deborah grew in experience and confidence and developed her skills within the
social care field. In terms of her career as an unqualified Social worker, she
went onto specialise with working with people who were registered blind or deaf.
Deborah’s passion for social work excelled and therefore ventured onto study,
resulting in qualifying as a Social worker and a youth worker. Soon afterwards,
Deborah gained employment as a Probation Officer and did so for the following
five years. As a result of her ambitious nature she became a Senior Practitioner
within a Youth Offending Team. Even though, this was a new field for her, she
showed much resilience and strength and knew that her career goal from
henceforth was to develop her management skills. Thus Deborah undertook a course
in Management where she nurtured her skills, putting theory into practice. It
was in this post that her interpersonal skills stood out amongst the rest and
she really learnt to relate and manage people with integrity.
Her commitment did not go unrecognised and in June 2006 she was awarded two
prestigious Awards. ‘The most Outstanding Agency Social Worker of 2006’ and the
‘One in a Million’. Her achievements were honoured at the House of Commons.
These Awards are the only National awards given to recognise excellence within
the temporary workforce.
Since then, Deborah has gained invaluable experience in management; she is now
employing her skills, knowledge and understanding within the remit of Senior
Management.
Jaqi Morgan
Company Secretary
Jaqi was the first trustee chosen by the founder of BBSI. To set up BBSI as a
charity, was no easy task. After many negotiations with the charity commission,

2001.

/personal assistance to the founder & co-founder of the Trust. Jaqi organises
trustee and prayer meetings, prepares and circulates agenda's and provides minutes

Jaqi has a passion for children hoping that they achieve a better life,
contribute to society and fulfil the wonderful work God has ordained for their
lives. Jaqi recently went to Kenya and was instrumental in assisting with some
of the overall activities relating to the boys dormitory. She also liaises
closely with some of the dedicated staff connected to BBSI.
James Kinyanjui
Kenyan Representative
James first started by volunteering to assist (Mummy and Daddy) the founder and
co. founder of BBSI as they are known, to sell tickets for a fund raising event.
He continued to assist BBSI in many other activities as regards to the charity’s
promotion and in October 2005, he was approached by the founders to become a
trustee.
James’s current work has equipped him with extensive experience as he deals with
homeless and disadvantaged people and has a passion to help people, and to
volunteer with BBSI was just a blessing. He says he would love to be involved in
making a difference to someone’s life especially the kids and sees BBSI (Kenya)
as the start of the many projects to come all over the world and he confidently
says that as long as our God is with us, the vision given to (Mummy) Florence
Shakes will continue to live a long lasting legacy.
James is a firm believer of walking the talk and hence does not shy away from
any type of work that he can do as a volunteer with BBSI, he was appointed as
the Kenyan Representative in 2007 and is very enthusiastic about helping the
project to move forward. With the Kenyan connection being his roots, he can help
as and when required if there is a language barrier and many other things in
Kenya as well as other involvements here in the UK.
James says that the Bible tells us that faith without action is dead, so God is
waiting for your involvement to succeed. And motivated by the love of Christ,
with our heart to God and hand to man, you will be putting your belief in to
action.
Orville Dorman
Marketing Liaison / Security
Orville Dorman' plays two roles in BBSI. The first main role is to over see all
security aspects of BBSI, particularly throughout our events. The second role is
a crucial part in involving the marketing
of BBSI.
Orville has a prayerful passion for BBSI to which he is constantly in prayer for
all the team members as well as the activities in which the trust endeavour to
do.
Orville has already been to our partner group in Jamaica; St Catherine where he
met some of the orphan children and the main leader of the church to which we
support.
Orville’s believes Except the Lord builds the house in Kenya , with the help of
people who God is blessing with Love, understanding, mercy, health ,strength,
skill, and finance; they labour in vain who build it. Except the Lord keeps the
city, the watchman wakes but in vain.
These Kenyan children are also a heritage from the Lord, the fruit of the womb a
reward.
As arrows are in the hand of a warrior, so are the children of one's youth.
Happy, blessed, and fortunate is the man whose quiver is filled with them!
They will not be put to shame when they speak with their adversaries [in
gatherings] at the [city's] gate
